Make a mixed move when it uncovers a hidden card or creates a real empty column opportunity.
Track which mixed stacks must be repaired before they become buried.

In 4 Suit, empty columns are rare and extremely powerful. Spend them only on meaningful reorganizations.
Use empty columns to separate suits, not to store random cards indefinitely.
Before filling an empty column, ask whether it could unlock a larger rebuild in one or two moves.

Trying to advance every suit equally can scatter your resources. A focused run gives the board direction.
Choose the suit with the most connected cards and protect that run.
Move blockers away from a strong run before starting a weaker one.
When a complete run becomes realistic, prioritize clearing it to create space.
