Pyramid Solitaire Strategy Guide

Every removal should improve access. Work from blockers outward, use the stock deliberately, and watch duplicate ranks before committing.

   Prioritize Covered Cards

   A pair that uncovers two cards is usually stronger than a pair that clears only exposed cards.

   • Look for pairs that release the most buried pyramid cards.
   • Clear cards blocking multiple lower cards before removing isolated exposed cards.
   • If two pairs are available, choose the pair that creates the next possible pair.

   Use the Stock for Pyramid Problems

   Stock cards are limited. Save them for pyramid cards that cannot pair inside the layout.

   • Avoid pairing two stock cards while useful pyramid cards are available.
   • Hold a stock card in mind if it matches a blocker you can uncover soon.
   • Do not rush through the stock without checking which pyramid rank needs help.

   Clear Kings When They Block Progress

   Kings remove themselves, but timing still matters when they are covering important cards.

   • Remove exposed Kings if they uncover cards or reduce clutter.
   • If a King is not blocking anything, check whether another pair opens more of the pyramid first.
   • Watch for buried Kings because they can become easy clears once exposed.

   Track Duplicate Ranks

   Duplicate ranks can create traps when you pair the wrong copy too early.

   • If two cards of the same rank are visible, pair the one that uncovers more cards.
   • Notice common pairs like 6+7, 5+8, 4+9, and A+Q before choosing.
   • Avoid using a flexible stock card on a low-value exposed card if it may be needed for a blocker.
